IFS (Iterated
Function System) fractals are objects that are made up entirely of small
copies of themselves. The fractal fern above began with a small fern
image that was then repeated smaller and in different positions until
it built up a fern-like picture. If you were to zoom into this fern,
you would see that each "frond" looks just like the original,
and each "leaf" on each frond is also the same image. This
is a good example of self-similarity.
